The pergola that I have been thinking about all winter is finally done. Now I'm ready for those hundred degree days. It was a lot of work, with the building, sewing, attaching grommets and so forth. Each of the awning covers took about 3 hours from start to finish. But the result is well worth it, so stop by for a burger this summer and we'll pull the shades and sit on the deck!

My Run in With the Law

Well that was strange. Today I decided that I would ride my skateboard down to the school to pick Emma up. I was just about there when I noticed, out of the corner of my eye, a car driving real slow right behind me. It was a city cop. He rolled down his window and told me to come over, then he said to me "Tell me your name". So I told him my name then he said "Do you go to school here?" Now of all the strange questions, this had to be the strangest. I'm almost 32 years old, balding, and wrinkly, and no I don't go to elementary school. It was cold out so I had my hood on, and when I took it off and told him that I did not go to school there, but that I was there to pick up my daughter his whole attitude changed. He then said to me "Umm, I was just looking for 8th street, do you know where that is?" I replied "Uhh, right over there", pointing at the sign that said "8th Street". The officer then said "Ok, thanks. I guess I'll go search and seize!" He drove off, leaving me standing there holding my skateboard feeling slightly confused and a little violated. Now I may be wrong, but I think I've just been profiled. Does riding a skateboard make you look guilty? When I got home I was still a little nervous and shaky. Maybe there were no little old ladies jaywalking, and the donut shop was closed, I don't know. I guess I should be happy that they're out protecting us from all those dangerous 32 year old father of five, skateboarding desk clerks. God Bless the Fuzz
